A lawyer to Eddy Ssebuufu, also know as Eddie Mutwe who has been missing for three days now following his alleged arrest, has petitioned the High Court seeking an order for CMI, the Attorney General and the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen David Muhoozi to immediately produce him in court .

Ssebuufu alias Eddy Mutwe, a body guard for Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine was reportedly picked up at Red Pocket Pub in Kampala on Saturday morning by men believed to be security operatives.

He was taken together with a one Selector Devie, Bobi Wine’s official DJ. Their phones have since been switched off.

Anthony Kusingura of Kiiza Mugisha Advocates has filed a habeas corpus in court alleging operatives from the military allegedly arrested Mutwe on August 25th from Ssemakokiro plaza in Kamwokya in Kampala.

Kusingura says Mutwe has been deprived of his fundamental human right to liberty asking that court should order government to produce him in court since he has been in detention for more than the mandatory 48 hours since his arrest.

The UPDF recently denied arresting Kyagulanyi’s bodyguard as had been alleged on social media.

“Why would we arrest Bobi Wine’s bodyguard?” Gen Muhoozi at a joint security press conference at the Police Headquarters in Naguru, Kampala on Saturday.

Police spokesman Emilian Kayima also said he was not aware of Mutwe’s arrest by police.

His disappearance came two weeks after the detention of his close associate, Bobi Wine who faces treason charges. Bobi Wine had been arrested and initially held by the military and tortured before he was later freed only to be rearrested by Police.

It remains unclear whether Mutwe’s disappearance has anything to do with ongoing investigations into Bobi Wine.

Mutwe was last month arrested for assaulting and obstructing the arrest of legislator Kyagulanyi Sentamu aka Bobi Wine during a protest against social media tax led by Bobi Wine and other artists in Kampala.

Police accused him (Mutwe) of snatching handcuffs from a policeman during the chaos that ensued as Police tried to disperse the protesters. He was later released.
