A team of 30 Kenyan tour operators, travel agents, hoteliers, and influencers has embarked on a seven-day familiarisation (FAM) trip across Uganda to experience the country’s diverse tourism attractions firsthand.
The delegation was officially flagged off on November 4, 2025, by Ambassador Paul Mukumbya, Uganda’s Consul-General in Mombasa.
The Uganda–Kenya Coast FAM Trip 2025 builds on the success of the 4th Edition of the Uganda–Kenya Coastal Tourism Conference, held in Malindi in October 2025. The initiative seeks to strengthen cross-border collaboration between Uganda and Kenya’s coastal tourism stakeholders and promote the idea of regional, borderless travel within the East African Community.

According to Ambassador Mukumbya, the visit reflects Uganda’s ongoing commitment to sustainable tourism, biodiversity conservation, and community-based development, all anchored in showcasing “one of Africa’s greatest natural wonders.”
“By engaging firsthand with Uganda’s top attractions, the visiting tour operators and influencers will gain valuable insights to market and package Uganda’s tourism products for both regional and international travellers,” said Mukumbya while flagging off the caravan.

During the week-long expedition, the participants will explore Uganda’s wide-ranging tourism experiences—from wildlife safaris and adventure travel to cultural heritage and agri-tourism. The journey kicked off with an inspiring visit to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to the world-renowned endangered mountain gorillas.
The familiarisation tour aims to deepen collaboration within the East African tourism circuit and enhance Uganda’s profile as a must-visit destination. It also reinforces collective efforts to position East Africa as a single, competitive, and sustainable tourism hub.
