Police are investigating the sudden death of a passenger which happened at Mbale Stage in Old Taxi Park, Kampala.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, identified the deceased as Lynet Mujuma, a 45-year-old, Kenyan national.
The incident happened on Saturday evening.
Owoyesigyire said that before her death, Mujuma had been admitted to Mulago Hospital under the care of her cousin, Bernard Wafula.
However, she decided to escape from the hospital. While seated in a taxi registration number UBC 512R, she collapsed and died on the spot.
“Police were called in and the body was taken to the city mortuary for a post-mortem. Investigations into the cause of her death are ongoing,” he said.
