Kenya’s supreme law mandates only the chief justice or his/her Deputy to preside over swearing of the President.

Police says it continues probing into Odinga’s ‘swearing in’ which they describe as an attempt to subvert or overthrow the legally constituted government of the Republic of Kenya.

Meanwhile, leading media houses NTV Kenya, KTN news and Citizen TV remain shut after defying President Uhuru’s directives of not relaying Mr Odinga’s swearing in live.

Activist Okiya Omtatah has sued government for switching off the stations. In his petition, Omtatah argues that the shutdown is illegal and there is no provision in law to support the said shutdown.
