Former Uganda Cranes star, Hassan Mubiru, now head Coach of Kampala Region League (KRL) side, Katwe United FC, says his team is not shaken by Stanbic Uganda Cup exit, saying they remain focused at winning the league title.
Katwe lost 5-4 on spot kicks to Namasuba Juventus after a one all stalemate in the Uganda Cup Preliminary round last week.
Mubiru says the team remains solid and have now shifted their concentration to defending the KRL title and be promoted to the FUFA Big League next year.
“Yes, we narrowly lost to Namasuba in the Uganda Cup, and it is true, that is not the result we wanted, but we played well. Maybe we had a bad day in office,” Mubiru told reporters after the morning training on Monday.
“We have shifted gears to the league and the boys are focused to being crowned victors again. I’m sure we have had enough time to rest,” he added
Katwe are top of league with 24 points from the eleven games played so far. They have won seven, drawn thrice and lost only a game.
Owned by Makindye West MP, Allan Ssewawanya, Katwe United are last season’s Champions but they narrowly missed qualifying to the FUFA Big league after losing in the promotional play offs to Kiboga United.
The won 1-0 in the first leg away in Kiboga but lost 2-1 at the StarTimes Stadium in Lugogo in the return leg.
They will on Wednesday host Byeyogerere FC at Katwe playgrounds at 4:00pm in the Kampala Region League.
