Police in Kabale have again arrested a woman suspected to have kidnapped a child, after she escaped from Police twice.
The suspect identified as Latibo Tibo alias Musimenta Emaculate was arrested on Monday from the home of one Habert Twinomugisha in Rwabaremera village, Kahondo parish in Maziba sub-county, in Kabale district.
She is alleged to have kidnapped a 6-year-old girl named Niwahereza Angel on July 16 this year. Latino later demanded a ransom worth Shs 180 millions.
The suspect was arrested by Police but would later escape from officers while traveling on a Gateway bus on August 25 at a place called Omugyenyi town along Ntungamo – Kabale road.
Latibo was re-arrested by Police in Nakaseke but again escaped from their custody on August 30.
On the same day, the child who had been kidnapped was recovered and was on September 3 handed over to the guardian (grandfather) identified as Besigye Joseph.
“The (suspected) kidnapper, Latibo Tibo is detained at CPS Kabale pending interview by Senior detectives to enable us arrest the associates,” the Regional Police spokesperson for Kigezi, Elly Matte said in a statement on Tuesday.
“We thank the O/C CID Nakaseke who provided us with the clues for arrest of the kidnapper and we responded swiftly after planning the operation,” he added.
