First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Museveni has urged the party leadership in Ruhaama Constituency to desist from any diversionary issues but instead focus on earning NRM a landslide victory in the by-elections scheduled for next Thursday.
Mrs Museveni who also doubles as Ntungamo NRM district Chairperson warned against sectarian politics based on religion or tribes and preached at length about unity and voting NRM for continued service delivery.
The First Lady was on Thursday meeting Ruhaama party leadership at her country home in Rwakitura, Kiruhura district, according to Rogers Mulindwa, NRM Communications Officer.
The meeting was attended by Moses Kahima Mugabe, the NRM official flag bearer in the four-man race and five of his contenders who lost in the primaries.
They included Ntale Adens, Rwamanywa Johnson, Dr. Bazinzi Nantamba, Tom Rwomushana and Pamela Owembabazi.
Speaking at the same meeting, Deputy Attorney General, Mwesigwa Rukutana took the party leaders through their constitution and urged them to adhere to the decision of the majority.
Rukutana said the Ruhaama people chose their flag bearer without any external interference and called upon them to vote NRM on January 11.
The candidate for Opposition party, FDC pulled out of the race recently due to failure to raise the required nomination fees, leaving the NRM at an advantage of retaining the seat.
Ruhaama county Parliamentary set fell vacant in November last year when the former MP, William Zinkuratire died after battling illness for a long time.
