A group of 14 men riding on motorbikes on Saturday trailed and attacked a one Jiwan Lal, an accountant working with Rigil Agro Peck limited in Kololo, in broad daylight before robbing him of Shs 5million, according to police.

Kampala metropolitan police deputy spokesperson ASP Luke Owoyesigire says the incident happened at around 12pm along Mawada road in near Kamwokya in Kampala.

“The victim was surrounded and assaulted continuously until his money amounting to 5 million Uganda shillings and 2 phones were stolen from him,” says ASP Owoyesigire.

A CCTV footage shared by police shows the victim dressed in a red T-shirt and carrying a bag on his back riding himself on a motorcycle before stopping after two motorcycles bypassed and suddenly in front of him. More motorcycles each with one or two people joined.

At the time, one of the men jumped off one of the motorcycles and started assaulting the victim before immediately being joining by the rest of gang. They are seen grabbing the bag and again jumped on the bikes before fleeing the scene.

The victim is seen helplessly left in fear. His motorcycle was left in touched.

Owoyesigire says police has since recorded statements from eye witnesses and has started following up on leads that have proven helpful in identifying the suspects for arrest.
