The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has officially endorsed businessman Al Hajj Hassan Basajjabalaba as Chairman of the NRM Entrepreneurs League for the period 2025 to 2031.
The endorsement followed a dialogue initiated by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, Chairman of the NRM, and facilitated by Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, at State Lodge Nakasero on Saturday, August 30.
In a joint communiqué signed by all contenders for the position, Basajjabalaba was declared the unopposed chairperson in the spirit of party unity and cohesion.
“We have unconditionally endorsed Al Hajj Hassan Basajjabalaba as the unopposed Chairperson of the NRM Entrepreneurs League for the period 2025–2031. We have done this in spirit of party unity and cohesion as emphasized by our party chairman,” the statement read.
The communiqué was signed by Hon. Sanjay Tanna, Mr. Kakuru Phillip, H.E. King Ceasor Mulenga, and Basajjabalaba himself, with Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa serving as facilitator.
The NRM Entrepreneurs League is a key organ of the ruling party that brings together business leaders and private sector actors under the NRM umbrella to promote policies and programs that support entrepreneurship, investment, and economic growth.
Basajjabalaba’s endorsement is expected to consolidate the league’s role in mobilizing entrepreneurs to support government initiatives while creating stronger linkages between the party and the business community.
