Gen Caleb Akandwanaho (Salim Saleh), the Chief Coordinator of Operation Wealth Creation has gone down memory lane to reconnect with where his military training had its roots four decades ago.

On Thursday, Gen Saleh took to Facebook to post a photo of himself and his contemporaries, Lt Gen Ivan Koreta and Col Bosco Omure who are in Mozambique.

While in Mozambique, the three military officers will among other things pay a visit to Montepuez where they trained and graduated in leadership in the 1970s.

“With Lt Gen Ivan Koreta and Col Bosco Omure at Polana Serena Hotel Maputo on our way to Montepuez in Mozambique where we trained and graduated in leadership 40 years ago,” Gen Saleh wrote on his Facebook.

Based in Tanzania at the time, the Front for National Salvation (FRONASA) led by Yoweri Museveni embarked on Uganda’s freedom struggle. Saleh, Koreta, Omure and others were some of the young peole Mzee Yoweri Museveni to Mozambique where they trained alongside Mozambique Liberation Front (FRELIMO) led by Samora Machel.

Saleh went down Uganda’s history as one of the most courageous freedom fighters of the National Resistance (NRA) between 1980 and 1986 when the guerillas defeated tyranny and took charge of the leadership of Uganda.
