The Inspector General of Police, Gen Kale Kayihura has been elected the new Eastern Africa Police Chiefs Cooperation Organisation (EAPCCO) chairman by the 19th annual general meeting at Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala.
Gen Kayihura vowed to work hand in hand with other police chiefs in the region in a bid to fight transborder crimes.
“I will build on what my predecessor has achieved ,”Gen Kayihura said.
He, however, warned that there is need to put resolutions into practice or else they would remain on paper.
The outgoing chairman, Rwanda’s IGP Emmanuel Gassana vowed to work hand in hand with his successor.
The 19th EAPCCO annual general meeting will end on Friday.
Over 14 member countries including Democratic Republic of Congo attended the meeting at Munyonyo.
