Former Makerere Student Who Graduated Last Week Found Dead

Eyangu James, a former Makerere University student who graduated last week on Wednesday is dead, police confirm.

According to ASP Luke Owoyesigire, Eyangu, 27, a kumam by tribe was last seen by a neighbor in Wandegeya on Thursday – a day after his graduation, before finding his lifeless body in his room.

“Information was received from a nearest neighbor called Akol Carolyne of telephone number 0786355314 that she last saw the deceased on Thursday morning the 20/05/2021 at about 0800/c when she borrowed a plastic stool from him,” explains Owoyesigire.

Akol Carolyne would later that day leave for the University and upon her return home, she found the deceased’s door closed and the room was quiet.

“She thought the deceased had moved out and still on Friday plus Saturday up to Sunday morning on 23/05/2021 that she experienced a bad smell from the deceased’s room, immediately she reported to the custodian of Elite Hostel, a one Ssesanga Marvin of telephone number 0785018366 who rushed to police of Makerere University and reported an incident of Sudden Death,” adds Owoyesigire.

He says after informing the Wandegeya police, a scene was visited by a team of detectives and officers.

The deceased’s body was then taken to Mulago KCCA mortuary for postmortem as investigations into the his death continues.
