Entebbe International Airport experienced a notable increase in passenger traffic in January 2025, handling a total of 216,740 international passengers.

The figures reflect a significant rise compared to the same period in January 2024, which recorded 194,563 international passengers.

The increase in air traffic has been attributed to several factors, including the influx of tourists, Uganda’s hosting of various international conferences, and the expansion of Uganda Airlines’ operations on new routes.

Additionally, the introduction of new air operators, Kush Air and Premier Airlines, which commenced flights to Juba in December 2024, has contributed to the growth.

January 2025 ranks as the second busiest month for Entebbe International Airport, following the record-breaking figures of December 2024, which saw a total of 222,317 arriving and departing passengers.

Other months that saw high passenger numbers include August 2024, with 204,575 international passengers, and December 2023, which recorded 198,961 passengers.

In the broader context, Entebbe International Airport handled 2,243,104 international passengers throughout 2024, reflecting a significant rise from the 1,932,094 passengers recorded in 2023.

The airport also reported substantial cargo activity in January 2025, recording 3,491 metric tonnes of exports and 1,578 metric tonnes of imports, bringing the total cargo handled to 5,069 metric tonnes.

For the year 2024, the airport recorded a total of 67,731 metric tonnes of cargo, a notable increase from 59,073 metric tonnes in 2023.
