Several senior police officers have been transferred in a major Police reshuffle effected by the now former Inspector General of Police (IGP), Gen Kale Kayihura.

The new postings which involve officers at the ranks of; Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP), Senior Commissioner of Police (SCP), Commissioner of Police (CP), Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and Superintendent of Police (SP) take immediate effect.

The latest appointments and transfers are contained in an internal memo dated March 3, 2018 issued by Gen Kayihura to all Police Units and Directors. The memo was issued a day before President Yoweri Museveni dropped Gen Kale Kayihura and replaced him with Okoth Ochola who has been Kayihura’s deputy.

In the new changes, AIGP Wafuba Ahmed has been moved from the IGP’s office to head the Police Reserve while SCP Henry Tukahirwa has been moved from Research Planning and Development to Deputy Head of Police Reserve.

SCP Tanui Stephen moves from the Field Force Unit to Police Reaevr Force as the CPS Officer and SCP Kasalawo Christopher becomes the new Commandant for the Field Force Unit from the IGP’s office.

SCP Edyegu Richard and SCP Tusiime Anne have both been appointed to Special Assignments in the IGP’s Office from the Logistics and Engineering Department where they have previously been serving.

SCP Nanding Christine has been made Deputy Director for Human Resources and Legal Services from the Land Police Protection Unit. SCP Kaali Ali Fadhir who has been in the Field Force Unit now goes to head the Police Oil and Gas Directorate.

SCP Ocaya Juma has been transferred from Research, Planning and Development Directorate to become new Deputy Director of Research Planning and Development.

CP Bazil Mugisha who has been on training becomes the Deputy Director for Logistics and Engineering while Kutesa Simon who has been on mission has been moved to the Directorate of Human Resources and Legal Service.

Former Police Spokesperson CP Fred Enanga who has been in the Press Unit now goes to the Directorate of Chief Political Commissar as CP for Information and Publications. ACP Ecotu Agapitus previously in the Human Resource Management has been transferred to become Operations Officer in the Field Force Unit while ACP has been made the new Deputy Commandant for Tourism Police.

In other changes effected, ACP Acaye Phillip is the new Regional Police Commander for Wamala from East Kyoga where he has previously been. The Deputy Police Spokesperson, ACP Polly Namaye has been moved to Information and Publications and ACP Namuwonza Denis is the new Regional Police Commander for Kampala Metropolitan (South) from Kigezi.

ACP Siraj Bakaleke from Kampala Metropolitan (East) to Acting Commissiomer of Police for Political Education

ACP Maxwell Ogwal from a training course to RPC East Kyoga

ACP Sara Kibwika from a training course to RPC Kyoga

ACP Anatolia Iginus Katungwesi from a training course to Joint Operational Command at the Police headquarters

SSP Makenye Geoffrey from Human Resource Management to Commandant Nsambya Barracks

SSP Moses Bwoya from a training course to Research, Planning and Development

SSP Sharaf Seyiko from a training course to RPC Kigezi

SSP Jackson Tumwine from Human Resource Management to the Regional CID headquarters

SSP Otong Ignatius from North West Nile to RPC Sipi

SSP Kagarura Herbert from Sezibwa to RPC North West Nile

SSP Norman Musings from a training course to Traffic

SSP Susan Edith from a training course to RPC Sezibwa

SSP Barugahare Christopher from Wamala Region to the Professional Standards Unit Pending Investigations

SSP Asuman Suwed from a training course to Crime Intelligence

SSP Damali Nachuha from a training course to the Police Presidential Guard

SSP Charles Mutungi from a training course to CID headquarters

SSP Henry Mugumya from a training course to Commandant Land Police Protection Unit

SSP Otim Chris from Albertine Region to CID headquarters

SP Nabende Musa from Sipi Region to Anti Stock Theft Unit

SP Apolot Agnes from a mission to the Child and Family Protection Unit

According to the memo by Kayihura, other transfers were slated to follow.
