Police have arrested embattled DPC of Buyende, Muhammad Kirumira following hours of a deadlock after he locked himself up in his Bulenga residence, resisting police arrest.

ASP Kirumira surrendered himself to the arresting police officers who were deployed at his home early on Thursday.

This is after the officers forcefully broke into his house after using metal cutting saw to cut through his front door.

It was after gaining access into the house that Kirumira walked out with arms raised amid awaiting officers who then whisked him off to an unknown destination.

Rounds of ammunition were fired to disperse a group of angry residents who were protesting his arrest.

Kirumira’s arrest is considered to be a retaliation by the Police after what they said was errant conduct exhibited by the DPC on Wednesday when he announced he had resigned from police service.

Kirumira was due to appear before the Police tribunal at the Naguru police headquarters this morning where he is facing charges but before he could leave his house in Bulenga, police officers had it besieged.
