Aura Lounge in Kololo came alive on Saturday, May 2, as the upscale nightlife hotspot marked its second anniversary with a high-energy celebration headlined by South African DJ and producer DJ Maphorisa.
The night drew a full house of revellers, as premium tequila brand Don Julio partnered with the venue to deliver an unforgettable experience defined by music, luxury, and vibrant social energy.
Guests showed up in style, with summer dresses, bold denim couture, and statement fashion pieces dominating the scene. High spenders indulged in premium bottle service, reinforcing Aura Lounge’s reputation as one of Kampala’s leading nightlife destinations.
Beyond the party, the evening carried a sense of nostalgia. Conversations flowed between drinks, with guests reminiscing about memorable nights that have defined Aura’s journey. That journey was brought to life visually through banners and displays lining the venue’s walkway, highlighting signature events such as One-Off Tuesdays, Ignite Fridays, and Chop Life Sundays, hosted by Sheilah Gashumba.
The red-carpet moment further elevated the night, drawing Kampala’s fashionable elite and socialites who made striking entrances in runway-worthy outfits, matching the celebration’s scale and glamour.
Delivering on its luxury promise, Don Julio curated an elevated hospitality experience with premium service and bespoke offerings. Speaking at the event, Senior Brand Manager for Tequila and Rum East Africa, Judie Nandekya, described the collaboration as a natural partnership.
Partnering with Aura Lounge always comes naturally for us. Seeing them celebrate two years makes us proud. We are happy to have walked this journey together and look forward to many more milestones,” she noted.
Musically, the night was a seamless blend of Afro-electronic, Afro-house, hip-hop, and dancehall, with sets from DJs City Girl, Selector Jay, DJ Jose, and Don Julio 1942 ambassadors DJ Spinny, DJ Dash, and Sheilah Gashumba, supported by energetic hype masters who kept the crowd engaged.
The highlight came in the early hours of Sunday when DJ Maphorisa took over the decks. Instantly, the crowd’s energy surged, some capturing the moment on their phones, others fully immersed on the dance floor.
Dressed in his signature designer streetwear and gold grills, he delivered a masterful set that moved effortlessly across Amapiano, Gqom, Afro-house, and soulful club anthems. With precise mixing and well-timed drops, he teased fan favourites before unleashing explosive beats that had the entire venue moving in unison.
