The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Dr Steven Kazimba Mugalu, has called for the use of media to cause socio-economic transformation in the communities.
In a speech delivered by Canon Geoffrey Byarugaba, the Provincial Chairman of the House of Clergy Church of Uganda, at the launch of Church of Uganda Family TV on DStv, Kaziimba noted that media should not only be used for spiritual purposes but also to transform the community through well-packaged social economic transformative programs.
He said as the church, they want to use the station to help transform the lives of the communities both spiritually, physically and economically.
“This is going to be a vehicle for changing the way we think. God has given us resources but how do we utilize them? How do we appreciate the gifts and skills of the people? We believe the gospel here will be holistic, it will touch the community, the social, politics, and spiritual,” Byarugaba said.
The Managing Director for CoU Family TV, Amos Mwesigwa, said they will focus on the local content and how the communities can be uplifted.
He said they have curated programs toward socio-economic development of the community.
“These programs are from health, economy, spiritual the family, among others. We are making sure that we not only feed people spiritually but also physically,” Mwesigwa said.
He said they have gone through a lot to realize the dream.
“It is a dream come true. We thank the Lord. Thank God for the opportunity to take the TV and the gospel to the region.”
The station can be accessed on all digital platforms.
