Abeokuta, Nigeria — Uganda’s young athletics stars continue to make their mark on the continental stage, delivering an impressive medal haul at the ongoing CAA African U18/U20 Athletics Championships in Abeokuta, Nigeria.
In the U18 men’s long jump, David Berkham Otim soared to a bronze medal with a jump of 7.08 metres, adding Uganda’s name to the podium in the field events.

On the track, the women’s U20 1500m final was a golden moment for Nancy Chepkwurui, who claimed gold for Uganda, with teammate Brenda Chekwemoi finishing strongly to secure the bronze medal.

Meanwhile, Uganda’s long-distance running dominance was once again underlined by Samuel Simba Cherop, who secured gold in the U20 men’s 10,000m earlier in the competition.

Cherop returned to the track to add a bronze medal in the U20 men’s 5000m, bringing his individual tally to two medals at this championship.
These achievements have been celebrated widely as Uganda continues to build momentum in athletics on the continent.
