Cairo, Egypt — The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF), in collaboration with host nations Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, has officially announced the key venues for the upcoming TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024, set to run from August 2 to August 30, 2025.
Returning to East African soil for the first time since the 2016 edition in Rwanda, CHAN 2024 will showcase Africa’s top home-based talent across four host cities in the region, including an expanded role for Zanzibar.
Opening, Final, and Placement Matches Confirmed
Opening Match: The curtain-raiser will take place at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, on Saturday, August 2, 2025.
Third-Place Match: Mandela National Stadium in Kampala, Uganda, will host the playoff for third place.
Final Match: The championship decider is scheduled for Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi, Kenya.
CAF also confirmed Zanzibar as an official host location, in a move hailed as part of its broader push to enhance inclusivity and representation across the continent. Zanzibar’s Amaan Stadium, which recently hosted the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup 2024/25 Final, will stage several group-stage matches.

Teams: Kenya, Morocco, Angola, DR Congo, Zambia
Group B – Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
Teams: Tanzania, Madagascar, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, Central African Republic
Group C – Kampala, Uganda
Teams: Uganda, Niger, Guinea, South Africa, Algeria
Group D – Zanzibar
Teams: Senegal, Congo*, Sudan, Nigeria
Congo replaced Equatorial Guinea following a CAF Appeals Board decision.
