African popular singer, Yvonne Chaka Chaka has finally set her feet in Uganda ahead of her charity concert planned for this Friday in the Kampala Serena Hotel Victoria Hall.
South African born Chaka Chaka, popular for numerous classic yet timeless songs will be joined by Bobi Wine on stage in a special fundraising event to help former street children return to school. The concert is organized by Shule Foundation, an international charity with education related projects in Uganda.
Shortly after emerging out of the waiting room at Entebbe airport, the singer of ‘Thank You Mr DJ’ and other hits who was showered with love and flowers said “I am glad to be back in Uganda I consider this my second home”.
She connected to Uganda from Nairobi, Kenya where she was part of the event at which former U.S President, Barack Obama spoke. On Monday, Chaka Chaka performed at the launch of the Sauti Kuu youth training and resource centre in Kenya’s Siaya county which was officiated by Obama along with his half sister, Dr Auma Obama.
Ahead of Friday’s musical performance, she will be at Namboole stadium where she will attend a community celebration to mark Nelson Mandela’s birthday.
On Saturday, Chaka Chaka will head to Kaazi Scouts Camping Grounds. She is also set to Besides, to join a number of Ugandans at the Ssese Family Day out alongside the South African High Commissioner to Uganda where a number of activities have been lined up.
Chaka Chaka was last in Uganda in May of 2016 where she headlined comedienne Anne Kansiime’s show.
