Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Wilson Mbadi and Land Force Commander, Lt Gen Kayanja Muhanga, have travelled to Kasese district to follow up on the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebel attack.

“Last night 17th June 2023 at 11:30 pm, a group of ADF terrorists attacked Mpondwe/ Lhubiria SS in  Nyabugando Parish  Karambi Sub County Kasese District,” said Defence Spokesperson, Brig Gen Felix Kulayigye.

He added: “Our forces are pursuing the enemy to rescue those abducted and destroy this group.”

UPDF Land Forces Commander Lt Gen Kayanja Muhanga

According to Kulayigye, President Museveni has dispatched the Minister of Education and Sports to commensurate with the school.

“Meanwhile, the CDF and CLF are joining the Div Commander on the ground for on-spot assessment,” he noted.

Kulayigye earlier said they are in hot pursuit of the rebels who killed 25 students, injured eight and abducted others.

On June 8, 1998, ADF rebels attacked Kichwamba Technical Institute where they killed 80 students, left others injured and several abducted.
