Burial Programme: Dr Ssemogerere to be Accorded State Funeral

Former Democratic Party President, Dr Paul Kawanga Ssemogerere, will be accorded a state funeral, according to the minister for the presidency.

Milly Babalanda said on Saturday that President Museveni had directed an official burial for the former DP leader.

“H.E the President has this morning directed that fallen former DP President General, Hon. Dr Paul Kawanga Ssemogerere is accorded an official funeral. All arrangements are, accordingly, underway,” Babalanda tweeted.

According to a tentative burial programme, Dr Ssemogerere who died on Friday aged 90, will be laid to rest on Monday in Nkumba, Entebbe Municipality in Wakiso district if the government does not ask for a change to the programme.

A vigil was held Saturday at the Family Residence located at 401 Stensera Road, Lubaga Kyaddondo.

A requiem mass was held at the Lubaga Cathedral Sunday, November 20, 2022, at 11 am.

On Monday, November 21, a Mass of Christian burial will be held at 1955 Nattale Nkumba Bufulu opposite Wagagai in Busiro, Wakiso District, starting at noon.

However, the family said some changes may come in due course.
