Uganda will officially receive the National Budget Speech for the Financial Year 2025/2026 on June 12, according to the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anitah Among.

She announced this during her opening remarks at the State of the Nation Address (SONA) at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds on Thursday, June 5, 2025.

Speaker Among confirmed that the upcoming Budget Speech will be aligned with the National Development Plan IV (NDP IV), which outlines the country’s medium-term strategy to drive socio-economic transformation and inclusive growth.

“This Budget is a historic opportunity for all patriots and people of goodwill to reflect on the collective achievements as a nation, and take stock of the prevailing challenges and opportunities for the sustained growth of Uganda,” said Among.

She emphasized that the 11th Parliament has operated as the “embodiment of a people-centred legislature,” adding that significant progress had been made during the Fourth Session, which saw: 75 plenary sittings held, 35 Bills passed, 3 Petitions concluded, 45 resolutions passed, 53 committee reports adopted and 2 oaths administered to new Members of Parliament.

Among extended appreciation to President Yoweri Museveni for his unwavering support to democratic governance and institutional development, and commended MPs for fulfilling their constitutional duties. She also warmly welcomed Speakers and Presiding Officers from other African legislatures, recognising their presence as a “testament of solidarity and love for Uganda.”

“Unless circumstances dictate otherwise, this will be the final State of the Nation Address delivered to the 11th Parliament. By this time next year, we anticipate that the 12th Parliament will be in session,” she noted.

The Budget Speech on June 12 will detail key priorities in public spending for the coming year, including infrastructure, health, education, agriculture, and job creation, especially as Uganda positions itself to deliver on NDP IV and the Parish Development Model.
