Kampala, Uganda – On November 23rd, 2024, New Club Obligato pulsated with a vibrant energy, as the BRAFAI Rising Warriors MMA Charity Event brought together fighters from India, Kenya, Tanzania, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Uganda.

This electrifying night was more than just a combat sports event – it was a rallying cry against Sickle Cell Anaemia, a silent battle many Ugandans face daily.

Dr. Charles Kiyaga, National Coordinator for Sickle Cell Anaemia under Uganda’s Ministry of Health, emphasized the true champion of the night: the fight for awareness, prevention, and treatment. “Tonight is about strength, not just of the fighters but of the communities uniting to combat a shared enemy,” Dr. Kiyaga said passionately.

The event’s success was made possible by Uganda Airlines, GBK Classic Milk, Ugachick, Masco D’Lionheart Training Camp, and the Ministry of Health – Uganda. Their support proved that partnerships are the bedrock of impactful change.

BRAFAI’s visionary founder, Wisdom Enoch Ronnin, unveiled a bold plan for 2025 – a year set to redefine advocacy and action.

“This is more than a fight; it’s a revolution,” Ronnin declared. BRAFAI’s 2025 agenda includes 14 events blending entertainment with education:

1. Awareness: Empowering families with knowledge to make informed choices.

2. Prevention: Encouraging proactive testing to curb the disease.

3. Management: Providing resources to help affected families live brighter lives.

Beyond the dazzling fights, the evening painted poignant moments of change. Couples queued for free Sickle Cell testing, while donors lined up to give blood. For every drop of sweat inside the cage, a drop of blood outside symbolized collective responsibility.

As 2024 draws to a close, BRAFAI has invited change makers to join its cause. Sponsorships, partnerships, and grassroots support are essential to rewriting Uganda’s narrative.

“This isn’t just our mission – it’s yours too,” Ronnin emphasized. “Together, we can leave an indelible legacy of health, hope, and humanity.”

BRAFAI also extended its deepest thanks to the fighters, fans, partners, and those who donated blood or underwent testing.

The fight against Sickle Cell Anaemia isn’t over, but with BRAFAI leading the charge, the path forward is clear.
