KAMPALA, Uganda — Staff of the Bank of Uganda have donated golf carts to Mulago National Referral Hospital as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility initiative aimed at improving the transportation of vulnerable patients within the country’s largest referral health facility.

The donation, received on Sunday, is expected to ease the movement of patients, particularly mothers, children, and other vulnerable groups, across the hospital’s specialized clinics and treatment units.

In a statement, Mulago National Referral Hospital said the support would enhance timely access to medical services and improve the overall patient experience.

“The support will enhance timely access to care, improve patient experience, and strengthen service delivery,” the hospital said.

Hospital management noted that the golf carts will play an important role in addressing mobility challenges faced by patients who often have to travel long distances between different departments and specialized clinics within the expansive hospital complex.

The initiative is expected to benefit thousands of patients who seek treatment at Mulago every year, particularly those requiring frequent movement between outpatient clinics, diagnostic centers, and specialized treatment units.

Mulago Hospital expressed appreciation to the Bank of Uganda staff for the contribution, describing it as a valuable partnership in advancing patient-centered healthcare.

“We thank the staff of Bank of Uganda for this valuable partnership towards patient-centered healthcare,” the hospital said.

The donation underscores growing collaboration between public institutions and the healthcare sector in supporting improvements in service delivery and patient welfare.

As Uganda’s national referral hospital, Mulago serves patients from across the country and the wider East African region, providing specialized treatment, training for health professionals, and medical research services.

Health sector stakeholders have increasingly encouraged partnerships and corporate social responsibility initiatives that help bridge resource gaps and improve healthcare outcomes for patients.

The newly donated golf carts are expected to be deployed immediately to facilitate the transportation of patients within the hospital premises, reducing movement challenges and improving access to essential medical services.
