With close to 10,000 views a day after it was uploaded on YouTube, Bebe Cool’s new video which he posted as a club banger 2018 with the title “Up & Whine” has been received with mixed reaction.
“You will find dancing as one of those things you will have to do because it keeps you fit,” said Bebe Cool on his Facebook wall making reference to the song.
Directed by Nigerian top video director, Sesan Ogunro, the video is shot at a scene that appears to be beneath a multiple pillared structure. Sesan has worked for Wiz Kid, Redsan, Dbanj among others.
The happy dance song borrows an almost similar track with ‘Katono’. The lyrics a mixture of English, patois and Luganda lines, centre on a lady that Bebe Cool hurls praises at, asking that she stands up and whine for him.
In the video, it is just Bebe Cool and two vixens doing different dance stunts that being our the lyrical message.
We gathered a few comments from his fans and followers who had mixed reaction over this new release, with others equating it to the new version of ‘Katono’.
Slaima Muhammade, who seemed to enjoy the song had this to say, “That’s why I like you, no matter what they say Bebe Cool, let’s hit them hard with the drum beats”.
Sneky Wasike Angela was upbeat with no regrets. For Angela, it was time Bebe Cool unleashed more beats to keep in the space.
Another one, Ntambi Bria opined that Bebe Cool’s ‘Up and Whine’ is the English version of Katono, and that she would not be surprised if ‘funny’ Ugandans fell in love with it.
But not everyone was impressed. One Dan Magic expressed regrets over singer Mowzey Radio’s death saying the exceptional writer would have written some songs for Bebe.
“What kind of song is that really? Let’s be realistic, poor lyrical content but with a good video. You still attack Eddy Kenzo, yet you’re not even competing with your own self, but rather going into relegation period,” Magic wrote in reaction to the song.
Mukisa Douglas said the only reason Bebe Cool is releasing songs every week since this year started is simply because he’s looking to land a hit “but this seems to have failed”.
“I warned you from working on many unrecognized projects like an upcoming artist u still insist wait next year you will be no where,” Bakole Fred Atlas commented.
