Paul Mwesigye 38 year old, resident of Butangwa Kabarole district is celebrating after General court martial chairman, Lt Gen Andrew Gutti ruled that he has no case to answer thus setting him free.
Mwesigye was arrested in May 2010 and he was later paraded before the court alongside 3 other people for murdering Margaret Mbabazi on 5th March 2010 at Butebo trading center in Kabarole district.
Two were convicted on their own guilty plea as the third person was acquitted on an Order of High court.
In a ruling on No case to answer, Lt Gen Gutti revealed that prosecution failed to provide enough evidence required in law to put any accused person on his defense.
He pointed out that the three main prosecution witnesses who were produced in court based almost all their evidence on what they heard from other people yet court can’t base on only hearsay in finding out whether some body was linked to omission of any offence.
Mwesigye who had spent almost more than six years on remand left court happy as his colleagues teased him on whether he could remember well his place of residence but he kept on smiling.
