The Most Rev. Dr Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, Archbishop of Church of Uganda, has joined Namirembe Diocese Fathers Union and religious faithfuls in mourning the passing of Bishop Emeritus Samuel Balagadde Sekadde.

Bishop Emeritus Balagadde passed away on Monday night October 14, 2024, at Kisubi Hospital, according to the Namirembe Diocese Fathers Union.

“On a sad note, we announce the terrible news of the sudden death of Bishop Emeritus, the Rt. Rev. Samuel Balagadde Ssekadde, the 4th Bishop of our Diocese. May his soul rest in peace,” Namirembe Diocese posted on its X platform.

Archbishop Stephen Kaziimba described Bishop Emeritus Balagadde as “a visionary leader, teacher and dedicated servant of the Church of God”.

“On behalf of Church of Uganda, I extend my deepest condolences to Maama Allen Ssekadde and the entire family. May God comfort you in these trying moments,” wrote Archbishop Kaziimba on X.

“I am saddened to learn of the death of Retired Bishop of Namirembe Diocese, Rt. Rev. Samuel Balagadde Ssekade. He has left behind a strong legacy anchored on shepherding God’s sheep for over 50 years. My condolences go out to the family, Church of Uganda and fellow believers. May the Bishop’s soul rest in eternal peace,” said Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon Thomas Tayebwa, on X.

Samuel Balagadde Ssekkadde was an Anglican Bishop in Uganda. He was Bishop of Namirembe from 1994 to 2009.
