The legislator sustained serious injuries and is currently admitted at Kiryandongo hospital. Reports say he is due to be transported to Kampala for further medical attention.

Only yesterday, it emerged that Cabinet had approved proposals aimed at ensuring road safety, including installation of speed limiters in all commercial vehicles.

Other measures include licensing of all goods vehicles and this process will require goods vehicles to fulfill certain regulatory requirements including inspection for road worthiness.

Automated Driver Test Centers will also be established to minimize human bias and to allow learner drivers to undergo rigorous testing to confirm their competences to drive before issuance of driving permits.

On its part, Police has cautioned drivers to desist from reckless driving, overspeeding and ensuring that their motor vehicles are roadworthy. It also threatened to revoke licences of commercial vehicles that do not comply to the road safety guidelines.
