Kampala’s fast-growing hangout and café culture is set to welcome a new player as international tea and dessert franchise Ai-CHA Food SG PTE. LTD prepares to open its first outlet in Uganda.

The new branch will be located at HAM Shopping Grounds in Wandegeya, directly opposite Makerere University’s main entrance, a strategic spot known for its busy student population and active nightlife.

Ai-CHA is known for its wide range of chilled drinks and sweet treats, featuring a menu built around milk teas, iced teas, fruit-based beverages, and smooth ice cream. The brand positions itself as an affordable yet trendy option, targeting customers looking for quick refreshments and a relaxed place to socialise.

Originally founded in Indonesia, Ai-CHA has expanded rapidly across Southeast Asia, earning a following for its modern café-style outlets, colourful drinks and innovative flavours. The company has grown to operate over 2,000 stores worldwide, through a combination of franchise and company-owned branches.

According to management, the Kampala outlet will maintain the brand’s signature international design while fitting into the city’s urban lifestyle. Customers can expect a clean, welcoming environment ideal for casual meetups, dates or study breaks. The company has also hinted at offering free Wi-Fi to enhance convenience for visitors.

To officially mark its entry into the Ugandan market, Ai-CHA will host a launch event this Saturday starting at 2:00 PM, featuring live entertainment, product tasting and promotional giveaways. Early guests will have a chance to enjoy free ice cream and receive discount vouchers.

The Kampala opening forms part of Ai-CHA’s broader strategy to expand beyond Asia into new global markets. With Uganda’s youthful population and rising demand for modern beverage brands, the company hopes to establish a strong presence in the local market.

As excitement builds ahead of the launch, Wandegeya’s food and lifestyle scene appears set for a fresh new addition—bringing an international dessert experience to Kampala’s vibrant social culture.
