On Monday evening, Sheikh Kassim Kamugisha was attacked by four men as he approached his home at Kasubi in Lubaga division in Kampala.
Kamugisha is one of the members of NRM’s KALOC (Kick Age Limitations out of the Constitution) that supported the amendment of Article 102 (B) to scrap age caps from the constitution.
Ibrahim Kitatta, one of KALOC’s members, told SoftPower News that the yet to be identified attackers stabbed Kassim with knives before taking off.
“He was attacked by four men as he arrived home, we haven’t established the motive of the attack. Kassim is undergoing treatment at Kimera clinic in Kasubi. Doctors say he is out of danger ,” Kitatta said.
This is not the first time a member of KALOC has been attacked.
Samuel Odong was in 2017 trailed by gunmen from a meeting. They opened fire on him as he entered his house in Ngora town council, Ngora district. He, however, was not hurt.
According to members of KALOC, President Museveni directed that they are given security but the directive is yet to be implemented.
Last month, Ugandans were shocked by the murder of former Arua Municipality MP, Ibrahim Abiriga as he approached his home in Kawanda.
