Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) has discovered a training camp belonging to Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels.
“ADF training camp discovered in Luwero,” announced UPDF spokesperson, Brig Gen Felix Kulayigye on Wednesday.
He invited the media to visit the camp on Thursday.
“The media is invited to come tomorrow (Thursday) 16 June 2022 and see for themselves,” he added.
Ugandan troops and their Congolese counterparts are currently battling the rebels in eastern DR Congo under operation Shujaa.
While speaking recently, President Museveni said the rebels had been dislodged from their strongholds by the joint forces.
On Tuesday, four civilians were killed and a dozen houses burned in an attack attributed to ADF rebels, in Mambamike, in Beni territory (North Kivu).
Congolese journalist Christina Malkia K reported that in Kidedya near the locality of Mwenda in the territory of Beni, a mine explosion linked to ADF rebels injured a young man named Nathanaël.
On Saturday June 11, seven people who had spent four months in ADF captivity, in Eringeti, in the territory of Beni, were released.
On Sunday, June 5, 20 people were killed in an attack by ADF rebels in Otmabert village, on national road number 4 (RN4), in the southern part of Irumu territory (Ituri).
A group of ADF rebels from Madina and Butani, 12 kilometers west of the (RN4) stormed the center of Otomabert firing shots.
Last March, 12 people were killed in the locality of Eringeti, following three attacks attributed to ADF rebels.
