Western Uganda-based musician Reagan Muhairwe aka Ray G, made history on Friday, May 10, 2024, when he filled Lugogo Cricket Oval to the brim.

This is his first major concert in Kampala but the second show following his first-ever performance in the capital city held at the Imperial Royale Hotel back in 2022.

Ray G

Ray G’s concert coincided with a public holiday thanks to the ongoing National Housing and Population Census 2024.

As a show of solidarity, bus-loads of fans from Western Uganda set off in convoys all the way from Mbarara City to the capital Kampala to demonstrate the famous Runyankore phrase “Rukundo egumeho” (may the love continue!).

The actual show kicked off at around 6:30 pm with curtain-raiser performances.

Some of the artists who performed at the concert include; Feffe Bussi, Fik Fameica, Mudra and Winnie Wa Mummy, Megatone, T. Paul, Fact Zamani, and Warafiki Galz, etc.

Ray G stepped on the stage at around 9 pm and moved the crowd with his magical performance.

He took them through hits like Make A Way, Let It Be, Omusheshe Ft Spice Diana and Yoya featuring Levixone, as the crowd sang and danced along.

Ray G appreciates

In an appreciation message shared on his social media platforms, Ray G thanked God for blessing him with life, good weather, and setting his music free.

“My heart is full. I am forever grateful. 10th May 2024, was a fundamental day in my music career and my life. God showed that when you believe, and work hard dreams become reality.”

He added: “I thank all my friends (fans) “abantu bangye” for the love and support like you always do. I can never take it for granted, because it pushes me to be the best version of myself.”

The concert was sponsored by Galaxy FM, Fenon, Pepsi, Stabex, SM Tours and Travel, Safe Boda, St Lawrence University, Movit and Next Media Services.

The Western Artist also thanked his partners especially MTN Momo, Uganda police for keeping law and order, and NCS for allowing us to use the venue facilities and Nobat Events (Generational promoter) for making the concert happen.

“I would like to thank the guest of honour – RT. Hon. Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Thomas Tayebwa, and all the guests for making time and coming to celebrate Ugandan music.”

“To my fellow performers/Entertainers (artists, DJs, MCs, Dancers) who came through to support us, thank you. I would also like to thank the BLACK WAVE BAND for delivering great art. Allow me to take this opportunity to apologize to our people who did not get the service as expected and promised. We promise to do better next time. Mwebare Munonga, Rukundo Egumeho (Thank you so much. Love Forever).”
