Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) 2016 presidential elections flag bearer, Dr. Kizza Besigye has attended Christmas prayers at Emmanuel Cathedral — Kinyasano, North Kigezi diocese in Rukungiri district.

Besigye urged the congregation to follow the biblical command of love, “Love your neighbour as you love yourself.”

Noting that all human beings were equal and the same before God, the retired Colonel told Christians that the country would have no problems if “we loved our neighbours as we loved ourselves.”

Besigye, whose Christmas message was dominated by calls for love, blamed most of “the problems the country faced like murder and theft” to people who push for selfish causes.

“If we loved ourselves as we loved our neighbours, nobody would be pushing for a selfish cause like the age limit bill,” Dr. Besigye told Christians who gathered at Kinyansano Cathedral for prayers.

He reminded the congregation that celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ was a reminder to Christians to love one another because that is what “brought Jesus Christ to live among us and save us from sin.”

“We are celebrating love,” Besigye emphasized at the service led by Bishop Benon Magyezi.

Besigye was in his home district to celebrate the festive season.

The FDC stalwart attended the service together with other political leaders from the FDC including Rukungiri municipality MP, Roland Mugume Kaginda and Rukungiri Mayor, Charles Makuru.
