The Princess Royal officially opened a branch of Opportunity Bank Uganda in Nakivale, the first of its kind.

The bank will boost financial literacy, encourage a savings culture, and improve livelihoods

“Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal meets our CEO Mr. Owen Amanya at the official launch of our Branch in Nakivale Refugee settlement Isingiro District,” the bank said in a social media statement.

It added: “It was an honour to have Her Royal Highness, Princess Anne officiate the opening of our Nakivale Branch Isingiro district, on 26/10/22 in the Refugee settlement as we extend financial inclusion to empower the lives of the community. We also extend our gratitude to our shareholders Opportunity Bank UK for enabling us continue to make lives of people and communities better.”

Opportunity International UK, in turn, tweeted: “Our Patron at the opening of Opportunity Bank Uganda bank branch in the Nakivale Refugee Settlement yesterday where she saw how the skills and potential of refugees is being unlocked.”

In her remarks, Anne commended Uganda for its refugee policy that gives asylum seekers fleeing political unrest.
