Museveni Assures Ruto of Uganda’s Continued Partnership with Kenya on Regional & Continental Agenda

President Museveni has Reassured President – Elect William Ruto of Uganda’s Commitment to Continue Partnering with Kenya in Advancing Regional and Continental Agenda.

This was contained in a congratulatory note verbale to Kenya’s newly elected President.

“On behalf of all Ugandans, I congratulate Your Excellency William Ruto upon your election as the 5th President of the Republic of Kenya,” Museveni said on Tuesday.

Adding, “Further to my telephone call last night upon your victory, I wish to reassure you of Uganda’s commitment to continue partnering with Kenya in advancing regional and continental agenda through the East African Community, African Union and other multilateral platforms.”

The President noted that Uganda and Kenya’s bilateral cooperation will score tremendous achievements, “and I look forward to working more closely with you.
God bless Kenya. God bless East Africa.”

On Tuesday last week, Kenya held national elections. Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), chairperson Wefula Chebukati yesterday declared Ruto as the 5th President of Kenya.

This after Ruto received the needed 50 percent of the national vote plus one, and at least 25 percent of the vote from 24 of 47 counties.

According to Chebukati, Ruto garnered 7,176,141 votes (50.49% ), beating Raila Odinga who came second with 6,942,930 votes. (48.85%). However, this has been contested by four electoral commissioners citing the “opaque approach to the final phase” of verification of results.

David Mwaure managed 31987 votes (0.23%) while George Wajackoyah  got 61969 votes (0.44%).
