Nile Breweries Limited, (NBL), has Thursday donated 100 crates of beer to Makerere University for the University’s Alumni Home Coming Dinner slated for Friday 22.

The 100 crates of beer were handed over to the University officials by NBL Regional Commercial Manager Davidson Waddada at the Makerere University Freedom Square.

Speaking at the handover, Wadada said the donation is a commitment to a life long partnership beyond 100 years.

“We are building a business to last 100+ years this drives us as leaders in steering Uganda’s growth and development goals. Makerere University’s legacy at 100 fuels our ambitions further. We congratulate the institution and acknowledge its critical role in building our company and value chain through its alumni,” he noted.

Wadada thanked the university for its contribution to the growth of Uganda, East Africa and the world at large.

“We thank Makerere for contributing to the growth and success of our business; the alumni of this university are the ones who are out there making these world class beers.”

Ms Caroline Kainomugisha, the Makerere at 100 Secretariat spokeswoman thanked NBL for supporting the celebrations.

“We are honored to receive this donation; as you know Makerere has nurtured and produced most of the great people in business, I am sure that majority of the workers at NBL are probably former Makerere students,” she said.

Friday 22, the Makerere Alumni Homecoming dinner, will be attended by Makerere’s Alumni at the Makerere Freedom Square on Friday from 5:30pm to 9:00pm.

Opening its doors to 14-day students in 1922, Makerere University has grown to become one of Africa’s most prestigious learning institutions.
