Peruth Chemutai reaches Women's 3000m steeplechase at Oregon

Uganda’s Olympic champion Peruth Chemutai has qualified for the final in the Women’s 3000m steeplechase at the ongoing 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon (US).

Chemutai finished in 5th place with a time of 9:16.66 in Heat 2 of women’s 3000m steeplechase, joining the fastest six.

She is through to the final due Wednesday.

in June this year, Chemutai won the women’s 3000m steeplechase at FBK Games in the Netherlands.

In a related development, Ugandan athlete Stella Chesang ran a new National Record of 31:01:04 to finish 14th on Saturday.

Her compatriot Mercyline Chelangat finished 16th in the women’s 10,000m final which was won by Ethiopia’s World Record holder Letensebet Gidey.

In the Men’s 1500m, Ronald Musagala finished 13th with 3:40.87 in Heat 3 and missed a semi-final place.
