UPDF Land Forces Commander Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has shared the details of his meeting with Rwanda President Paul Kagame.
“The first day I reconnected with my uncle 3 months ago, I promised him a number of things,” Muhoozi revealed on Thursday.
He promised that the Ugandan army would never attack Rwanda and that any security official who stood against Rwanda would lose his job.
“First of all, as Commander Land Forces, UPDF, my army would never attack Rwanda,” he stated.
He added: “Secondly, no security official of Uganda who fights Rwanda would retain his job.”
The Presidential Advisor on Special Operations promised to share more details in due course.
Muhoozi said he is getting ready for a second ground-breaking meeting with H.E Kagame.
Those taking part in the meeting include; Brigadier General Willy Rwagasana, Charge d’Affaires of the Ugandan High Commission in Rwanda, Anne Katusiime and Colonel Ronnie Rwivanga.
Operation Shujaa
Meanwhile, Muhoozi revealed that he is heading to the Democratic Republic of Congo where Ugandan troops are battling Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels.
“My Congolese brothers and sisters should not fear ADF. I’m coming soon to DRC to make my headquarters there if my two Presidents Kaguta Museveni and H.E. Tshisekedi accept,” he announced.
“If they accept, I will supervise the last manoeuvres of our very successful Operation Shujaa!”
Muhoozi said he received information from Operation Shujaa Overall Commander Major General Kayanja saying that ADF has largely fled all the areas the joint forces attacked i.e Semuliki Bridge, Kambi ya Yua, Belu I, II and III, Tondoli, Kainama, Boga and Tshabi.
“In other words, in less than 5 months the joint UPDF-FARDC forces of ‘Operation Shujaa’ have completely removed ADF from the bases they occupied for more than 22 years,” he said.
He added: “I hear MONUSCO, the UN force, is interested in helping us in the operation. We welcome their help.”
