Public Accountants Examinations Board (PAEB) of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) has released October 2021 Examinations diet.

While releasing the results, PAEB Chairman, Geoffrey Byamugisha revealed that notably, the average pass rates for all courses are higher than in the immediate pre-COVID-19 pandemic diet of November 2019.

The examinations were conducted for a period of 5 days, from 4 – 8 October, 2021, at 7 examinations centres; in Arua, Fort Portal, Gulu, Kampala, Mbale, Mbarara, Mbale and Nkozi.

Byamugisha said that 4,238 candidates attempted the October 2021 examinations compared to 4,453 in December 2020 and 6,516 in November 2019, representing a drop of approximately 35% from the pre-COVID-19 diet of November 2019.

The students were examined in three categories including; Accounting Technicians Diploma (ATD) Examinations, Certified Tax Advisor (CTA) Examinations and Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (CPA).

“72 candidates sat for the CTA October 2021 examinations compared to 58 in December 2020 and 110 in November 2019 while 4,026 candidates sat for the CPA October 2021 examinations compared to 4,244 in December 2020 and 6,181 in November 2019. 140 candidates sat for the October 2021 examinations compared to 151 in December 2020 and 225 in November 2019,” Byamugisha said.

Speaking during the release, ICPAU President, CPA Constant Othieno Mayende congratulated those candidates who passed their various examinations papers, the top candidates in the various subjects and those who have completed their courses.

“We are cognisant of the fact that students and tuition providers have in one way or the other been impacted by COVID-19 and were not able to prepare as would have been the case under normal conditions,” Mayende said.

Mayende thus advise the students wishing to sit examinations in December 2021 to intensify their preparations so as to meet the examinations standard required by PAEB/ICPAU.
