Popular producer Daniel Muwanguzi alias Danz Kumapeesa has succumbed to death on Saturday after several months at Nsambya hospital where he had been on oxygen support.
Danz Kumapeesa has been in critical condition since June when we was admitted to hospital following an incident in which unknown thugs attacked him at his home and brutally beat him.
His family has since been soliciting financial support to help foot the outstanding medical bills which had accumulated to over Ush 20 million. Sickly Danz was only feeding through tubes.
Last month in September, musicians organized a charity concert to raise funds to support the award winning producer after a car washing exercise that raised Ugshs 7 million toward the same cause.
The music concert that featured artistes Bebe Cool, Jose Chameleon, Fille, Ykee Benda, Nuttty Neithan and Winnie Nwagi raised just Ush 3.5 million.
Danz Kumapeesa who was scaling heights in audio music production in Uganda’s competitive industry before the tragic incident, is mostly known for producing hit songs Winnie Nwagi’s ‘Musawo’ Bebe Cool duet with Sauti Sol ‘Mbozi Za Malwa’ and ‘Yo Sweet’ by Rema among many several others.
While he struggled for his life in hospital, Danz recently managed to scoop ‘Best Audio Producer of the Year’ in the recent 2017 Uganda Entertainment Awards.
In the wake of the tragic news, singer Bebe Cool posted; “Sad news this morning as Danz Kumapesa gives up on the fight for life, RIP.” Bebe Cool had been at the forefront of rallying fellow artistes to mobilize resources and personally donated Ush 5 million.
Musician Eddy Kenzo also said he was speechless about the death of Danz. He also wrote; “Gone too soon my brother Danz Kumapesa. Rest in peace Brother. I’m speechless I thought you gona come back R.I.P Danie. You will always be remembered”.
