The public and security agencies including the army and some Police officers have since condemned the actions of the soldiers and Gen Kyaligonza strongly.

Now, the army spokesperson, Brig Richard Karemire has said the two soldiers responsibile for manhandling the Police officer have been arrested.

They have been identified as Bushindiki Peter and Okurut John Robert.

“We wish to inform the public that as  investigations into circumstances that led to the Seeta incident  continue, UPDF has arrested RA/221607 L/CPL Bushindiki Peter and RA/230927 Pte Okurut John Robert,” Brig Karemire said in a tweet.

He said the two are being held at the Military Police headquarters.

“We reiterate our commitment to ensuring discipline of all ranks,” Brig Karemire added.

Earlier on Sunday, the UPDF termed the incident as regrettable and apologized to the victim in a statement.

“We have been informed  of the incident involving a Police traffic Sergeant and UPDF military Police Soldiers,” Brig Karemire said in a tweet Sunday afternoon.

A photo has been circulating on numerous social platforms showing two soldiers attached to Military Police manhandling a female Police officer. One of the soldiers can be seen grabbing her by the collar as a seemingly angered Gen Kyaligonza pointed his hand at her.
