Makindye East MP, Ibrahim Kasozi has dissassociated himself from the statement made by a section of MPs about Bobi Wine’s health following a visit to the detained MP of Kyadondo.

On Sunday, a section of MPs including Workers’ MP Arinaitwe Rwakajara, Usuk County MP Peter Ogwang, Bukedea Woman MP Anita Among and Ibrahim Kasozi visited Bobi Wine at Makindye Military Barracks where he is detained. The other MP is Doreen Amule who is the Woman MP for Amolatar and the Chairperson of the committee on Defence and Internal Affairs.

Both Ogwang Peter and Anita Among addressed the media after the visit. They commended the UPDF for being cooperative and allowing them to visit their colleague.

“What is being reported on social media about our colleague Bobi Wine is not what is happening with him in Makindye Military Barracks, we got him having lunch and fruits,” said Bukedea Woman MP Anita Among.

On his part, Usuk MP Ogwang said that they found Bobi Wine in a better state than what is portrayed on social media. He revealed that Bobi Wine commended UPDF doctors for excellent care.

“Contrary to social media alarming reports that Hon Kyagulanyi is in dire state, he hugged and smiled at us, talked freely. Bobi Wine himself told us that he is receiving excellent medical care, he has even commended the doctors of Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF),” Peter Ogwang said.

Asked on Twitter why he and colleagues who visited Bobi Wine did not take photos with him, Ogwang said that Bobi turned down photo opportunities.

“It is unfortunate he declined a photo shoot with us considering the fact that he still needs his privacy as he still has bruises on his face which are still drying up,” Ogwang said before assuring Ugandans that “they would see Bobi Wine on 23 August 2018 when he appears in court.”

This did not go down well with a section of Ugandans who considered Ogwang’s statement as a lie given the fact that nobody is allowed near detained suspects in Makindye Military Barracks with phones. Others wondered why Bobi Wine who once lived in the Ghetto would now worry about his appearance.

FDC Ibrahim Kasozi has also dissassociated himself from the colleagues’ statements saying that Bobi Wine told him that he needs access to better medication.

“He told me that Ugandans should continue to demand for his access to his doctors and better medication,” Kasozi told journalists.

Kasozi also said that his colleagues may have misinterpreted Bobi Wine’s smile for being fine.

“Bobi Wine is a spirited man and has a golden smile, even in pain he still smiled. I think the MPs misinterpreted his smile for being well. The fact is that he couldn’t sit or stand on his own,” Kasozi said.

Peter Ogwang had also earlier said that Bobi Wine complained of pain in the hip and kidney.

“Indeed he complained to us about his kidney and pain in the hip but confirmed to us that doctors were going to do a scan,” Ogwang said before warning Ugandans against spreading alarmist propaganda.
