FUFA Institutes Commission to Probe Poor Match Officiating

Football governing body, Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) has appointed former East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) Speaker Daniel Kidega to heaf the Commission of Inquiry investigating issues relating to poor officiating of football matches in the country.

According to a statement from FUFA, there have been several complaints of poor and unbalanced match officiating likely because of among other factors syndicate and bribery, and the commission of inquiry will identify and iron out the vice.

“Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) emergency executive committee constituted a commission of inquiry into match officiating arising from persistent allegations from stakeholders,” the statement by FUFA read in part.

“The commission of inquiry has commenced and hereby invite all football stakeholders and the general public to submit credible information materials that can assist in the inquiry,” it added.

Rubaga North legislator, Moses Kasibante will also be part of the Commission.

Individuals who will provide credible information pinning referees on their misconduct in the Uganda premier league, FUFA Big league, The Drum, Uganda Cup, FUFA Juniors league, FUFA women’s elite league and FUFA women’s cup, have been promised Shs 1,000,000.

“Any person (s) with information that shall be found credible and used to logical conclusion will receive a cash reward of Shs 1,000,000,” FUFA said.

Other members on the instituted commission of inquiry include Kennedy Mutenyo, Douglas Mazune, Nakamya Annet and Zirabamuzaale Muzafaru and will sit three days a week at Ivy’s hotel in Wakaliga to receive submissions from the public.
