ANTALYA, Türkiye — The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uganda, Odongo Jeje Abubaker, has travelled to Türkiye to participate in the 5th edition of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum (ADF2026), scheduled for April 17–19 at the NEST Congress and Exhibition Centre.
The visit follows an invitation from Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
This year’s forum is themed “Mapping Tomorrow, Managing Uncertainties” and is expected to bring together global leaders, policymakers, and diplomats to discuss emerging geopolitical and economic challenges.
During the forum, Odongo is expected to deliver a keynote address as a panellist on “Investing in Africa’s Future: Strategy, Scale and Competitiveness”, a session aligned with Uganda’s broader development agenda focused on attracting investment and accelerating socioeconomic transformation.
Officials say the discussion will highlight Africa’s opportunities in trade, infrastructure, and industrialisation, with Uganda positioning itself as a competitive investment destination.
On the sidelines of the forum, Odongo is expected to hold high-level bilateral meetings with Turkish officials, including Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, as well as other participating foreign ministers.
The discussions are aimed at strengthening diplomatic relations and expanding cooperation in trade, investment, and development partnerships between Uganda and Türkiye.
The minister is accompanied by Uganda’s Ambassador to Türkiye, Nusura Tiperu, alongside senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Antalya Diplomacy Forum has become a major international platform for dialogue on global governance, peace, and economic cooperation, bringing together stakeholders to address shared challenges in an increasingly complex world.
Uganda’s participation, officials said, underscores its commitment to active global engagement and multilateral diplomacy.
