The FDC party President, Patrick Amuriat has said that the new changes effected within the security leadership of the country are mere change of guard and Ugandans should not expect any significant change since the appointing authority remains the same.
Amuriat was reacting to Sundays unprecedented replacement of the Inspector General of Police, Gen Kale Kayihura and Security Minister, Lt Gen Henry Tumukunde by President Yoweri Museveni.
FDC President told the media on Monday in Najjanankumbi that Ugandans should not relax but continue to push for regime change as that is the only way their power shall be restored.
He warned the newly appointed Police Chief, Okoth Ochola and his deputy, Brig Sabiiti Muzei to avoid serving with impunity serving only the interests of the appointing authority.
“What has a happened should be a lesson to those who support Museveni’s dirty work that one day they will answer personally for their dirty deeds,” Amuriat warned.
Amuriat said that Kayihura has for so long been used to clamp down on thrt opposition with impunity, but now all fingers are pointing at him personally.
He added that the FDC will continue with efforts to enhance activities to bring total liberation among Ugandans as well as restoring the people power.
FDC’s Vice President Eastern region, Salaam Musumba told the media that, “Ugandans should not expect anything new, all those fired and those hired are of the same foundation and are all hired to ensure regime survival.”
Asked if the changes will help to reduce criminality in the country, Musumba noted; “This would be so if the country had a professional Police Force and not just NRM Armed Force.”
“I don’t expect criminality to end, women were killed, AIGP Felix Kaweesi, the Muslim Sheikhs and many other Ugandans and as a country we should continue to demand for reports on such murders,” Musumba said.
