Entebbe — From the greens of the Entebbe Golf Club to the high-energy fields of the Annual Bankers Sports Gala, Equity Bank Uganda reaffirmed its spirit of excellence, teamwork, and camaraderie over a weekend filled with sportsmanship and pride.
The bank’s management and staff participated in two major events — the MTN x Equity Bank Golf Game held on October 18 at the Entebbe Golf Club, and the Annual Bankers Sports Gala, where Team Equity finished an impressive 3rd overall among competing financial institutions.
Swing Masters Shine at Entebbe Golf Club
Under the warm Entebbe sun, the greens came alive with bright smiles and powerful swings as golfers teed off at the MTN Monthly Tee, co-hosted by MTN Uganda and Equity Bank Uganda.
The event, which brought together corporate golfers and partners, was graced by Equity Bank Managing Director Mr Gift Shoko and Executive Director Mr Claver Serumaga, who led the bank’s team of enthusiastic players.

Equity Bank’s “Swing Masters” put on a commendable performance, securing several podium finishes.
Moses Mukiibi clinched the First Runner-Up position in Group A (Men), Afurah Arinda earned First Runner-Up in the Ladies’ Category, and Executive Director Mr Claver Serumaga was recognised as First Runner-Up in Group B (Men), receiving his award from Head of Marketing and Communications, Ms Claire Tumwesigye.
In a message shared after the tournament, the bank congratulated its golfers and thanked MTN Uganda for their partnership and hospitality.
“Our Swing Masters gave it their all,” Equity Bank stated. “It was a day of great swings and even better connections — proof that teamwork, resilience, and passion define who we are as a brand.”
The MTN x Equity Bank Golf Game was part of ongoing corporate engagements aimed at strengthening business relationships, fostering wellness among professionals, and creating spaces for collaboration outside the boardroom.
Equity Dominates the Bankers’ Sports Gala
Just a day later, the energy shifted from golf clubs to cheering crowds as Team Equity hit the fields for the Annual Bankers Sports Gala, one of Uganda’s most anticipated inter-bank sporting events.
The gala brought together teams from across the country’s financial sector to compete in athletics, football, netball, tug of war, and several fun corporate challenges.
Equity Bank Uganda stood out not just for its athleticism but for its team spirit, finishing 3rd overall — a feat celebrated widely within the bank.
“Team Equity put up a solid performance,” the bank announced proudly. “The spirit, the effort, the energy — unmatched! We’re proud of the journey and even more fired up for next year.”
Among the standout moments was Executive Director Claver Serumaga’s triumph in the CEO Walk, where he walked his way to gold, earning Team Equity 50 points.
The Tug of War team also made a strong showing, securing the First Runners-Up position — a display of both physical strength and collective determination.
The event saw Managing Director Gift Shoko join staff on the field, cheering on the teams and celebrating their wins.
Sports, Spirit, and Solidarity
The back-to-back weekend events underscored Equity Bank Uganda’s commitment to holistic employee wellness, teamwork, and community engagement — principles that extend beyond business into the daily lives of its staff.
Equity Bank’s participation in such corporate and community sporting events forms part of its Employee Wellness and Engagement Strategy, which encourages work-life balance, fitness, and mental well-being.
