Johannesburg — Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda (CCBU) has once again raised the bar for workplace safety after winning three prestigious NOSCAR Awards at a ceremony held recently in South Africa.

The NOSCAR Awards represent the highest standard of recognition in occupational health and safety, presented by NOSA, a leading global provider of safety training, auditing, and consultancy services.

CCBU’s Namanve, Mbarara, and Rwenzori plants were honoured with NOSCAR Awards after achieving an impressive 98% effort score. The Mbarara and Rwenzori plants received the accolade for the second consecutive year, while Namanve celebrated its first-ever win.

“At CCBU, a proud member of the Coca-Cola Beverages Africa group, our long-term success depends on ensuring the safety of everyone connected to our business — from employees and site visitors to our distribution partners, customers, and the communities we serve,” said Emmy Hashakimana, General Manager of CCBU.

He emphasised that safety is not an afterthought but a core part of the company’s operations. “Safety is embedded across our entire value chain — from the arrival of raw materials to the moment our products reach consumers. We believe that a safe and healthy workplace is both a fundamental human right and a business imperative,” Hashakimana said.

He reaffirmed CCBU’s commitment to its guiding philosophy, ‘Zero is Possible’, which reflects the company’s pursuit of zero incidents — whether in personal safety or product quality.

“‘Zero is Possible’ means zero injuries, zero harm, and zero compromise. It speaks to our commitment to doing business the right way — operating with integrity as we refresh Africa and create shared value,” he added.

Hashakimana further noted that safety excellence goes beyond compliance. “Safety is not just a regulatory requirement; it’s a key part of our social license to operate and a driver of sustainable growth and societal progress,” he said.

The achievement underscores CCBU’s continued leadership in occupational safety, reinforcing its reputation as one of Uganda’s most trusted and responsible beverage manufacturers.
