President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the Commander-in-Chief of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF), has promoted Brigadier General Christopher Sserunjogi Damulira to the rank of Major General, in recognition of his distinguished service in national security and intelligence.
The promotion was officially announced on June 23, 2025, marking a significant milestone in Damulira’s long and decorated career in Uganda’s security architecture.
In a statement following the announcement, Major General Damulira expressed deep gratitude to President Museveni and the leadership of the UPDF for the honor:
“I am deeply honored to express my heartfelt gratitude to His Excellency the President and Commander-in-Chief of the UPDF, and the Chief of Defence Forces/SPA-SO, for elevating me to the rank of Major General,” he said. “I pledge my unwavering commitment to protecting and defending Uganda, ensuring peace and security for generations to come.”
He also extended appreciation to the leadership of the Uganda Police Force, the Uganda Prisons Service, and the Intelligence Services for their continued collaboration, adding a special salute to Ugandans across all walks of life—including the ghetto youth—for their role in maintaining peace and security.

Maj Gen Damulira’s journey in security and defense began in 1995 when he was enrolled as an Officer Cadet at the School of Infantry in Jinja (Section II, Platoon III, Alpha Company). Over the years, he has risen steadily through the ranks, demonstrating excellence in both field operations and strategic intelligence management.
He is best known for his role as Director of Crime Intelligence in the Uganda Police Force, where he has led complex national security operations, tackled organized crime, and strengthened inter-agency coordination. His efforts have been instrumental in disrupting criminal networks and enhancing intelligence-led policing in Uganda.
The promotion to Major General is seen as both a personal achievement and a strategic recognition of the vital role intelligence plays in Uganda’s internal and regional security landscape.
