Cape Town, South Africa  — Proscovia Nabbanja, the Chief Executive Officer of the Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC), is set to lead Uganda’s investment drive at this year’s African Energy Week (AEW) 2025: Invest in African Energies, where she will spotlight the country’s strategic oil and gas projects, including the flagship Lake Albert Development Project and the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP).

AEW 2025, Africa’s premier energy investment forum, will welcome Nabbanja as a distinguished speaker, reflecting Uganda’s rising profile as a regional oil and gas powerhouse. Under her leadership, UNOC has taken bold strides to position Uganda as a competitive hydrocarbon exporter by advancing key upstream and midstream projects and promoting local content development.

Uganda is targeting its first oil by the end of 2025, anchored by the Lake Albert Development Project – a multi-billion-dollar venture led by TotalEnergies and CNOOC, with an estimated 1.4 billion barrels of recoverable reserves. This project is expected to transform Uganda into a net oil producer, creating new revenue streams and a significant socio-economic impact.

A critical component of Uganda’s oil infrastructure is the EACOP, a 1,443-kilometre heated pipeline that will transport crude from Hoima in Uganda to the Port of Tanga in Tanzania. When completed, it will become the longest heated oil pipeline in the world. Despite recent delays in securing financing, the EACOP remains central to Uganda’s export ambitions and regional energy integration.

“Uganda is making bold moves to monetise its resources and become a key oil producer in East Africa. In partnership with major operators, UNOC is driving projects like Lake Albert and EACOP forward with clarity of vision and a strong national agenda. We are proud to welcome Proscovia Nabbanja to AEW 2025, where she will showcase how Uganda is open for business and ready to partner with global investors,” said Oré Onagbesan, Program Director for AEW.

Nabbanja will use her platform at AEW 2025 to engage international investors and highlight opportunities across Uganda’s entire oil and gas value chain. These include upstream field development, pipeline and logistics infrastructure, refining, storage, and local capacity building initiatives.

As UNOC continues to seek strategic and financial partners, Nabbanja’s presence at AEW reaffirms Uganda’s commitment to transparent, inclusive, and investment-friendly development of its natural resources.

AEW: Invest in African Energies has become the continent’s go-to platform for signing energy deals, bringing together governments, financiers, technology providers, and project developers. Visit www.AECWeek.com for more details on the event.
